Eligibility (National Students)

MBBS Eligibility Criteria for National Students

 

The admission and selection process for the MBBS degree program at B&C Medical College Teaching Hospital affiliated with Kathmandu University and recognized by the Nepal Medical Council (NMC) fulfilling the follows these steps:

 

1. Eligibility Criteria

⮚ Candidates must have completed their higher secondary education (10+2 or equivalent) with science subjects (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) from a recognized board or institution.

⮚ They should have obtained a minimum 2.4GPA in aggregate and minimum C+ in Physics, Chemistry and Biology separately with minimum C in other subject's.

OR

⮚ They must complete 10+2 years of education or Intermediate of Science (I.Sc.) or equivalent having 50% in aggregate (Grand Total) with Physics, Chemistry, Biology(PCB) as main subjects and he/she should have secured not less than 50% of marks in each subject (PCB).

OR

⮚ Completed Bachelor of Science Degree, recognized by the University, with one of the following subjects viz. Physics, Chemistry, Biology and at least one other prescribed science subject of study up to the ancillary level and having scored not less than an overall aggregate of 50% marks, provided that such candidate shall have passed the earlier qualifying examination (10+2 or an equivalent examination) with the subjects of Biology, Physics and Chemistry.

2. Entrance Examination

⮚ Candidate must pass the Common Entrance Exam conducted by Medical Education Commission. Dates of entrance form fill up timings and entrance date are as per the notice of Medical Education Commission(MEC). For foreign candidates, admission procedure is as per the notice of Kathmandu University.

⮚ All candidates should secure at least 50th percentile or above in the entrance examination to qualify.

3. Application Process

⮚ Candidates need to fill out and submit an application form available from B&C Medical College or Kathmandu University. The application typically includes personal details, educational background, and examination scores.

⮚ Notice will be published for the candidates to set their priority of colleges. Then computer based matching will be done on the basis of merit and the candidates priority among the available seats.

4. Merit List and seat allocation

⮚ Based on the performance in the entrance examination and eligibility criteria, a merit list is prepared. Candidates are selected according to their ranks in the merit list, with top-ranking candidates being offered admission. 

⮚ Those who appear in the entrance examination conducted by Medical Education Commission will be given the first priority.

⮚ If the seat fall vacant, matching will be done among those who have passed the national level entrance examination of their respective countries who agreed the condition to be in second priority in the merit list and have secured at least 50% marks, or at least 50th percentile or above in national level medical entrance examination in their respective countries.

⮚ The remaining seats after completion of the matching of foreign candidates will be transferred to Nepalese open (paying) seats. Foreign candidates who are selected for admission are required to produce original documents at the time of admission.

⮚ Medical Education Common Entrance Examination Committee reserves all the rights - regarding entrance examination. Candidates who submit the fake information/documents will be liable for legal actions as per prevailing rule and regulations of Nepal.

5. Counseling and Seat Allotment

⮚ Selected candidates are invited for counseling sessions where they can choose their preferred course (MBBS) and college (B&C Medical College) based on their rank and availability of seats.

⮚ Seat allotment is finalized during counseling, and candidates are required to complete admission formalities, including fee payment and document verification.

6. Document Verification and Admission

⮚ Candidates must provide original documents for verification during the admission process. This includes educational certificates, identity proof, and other relevant documents like:

➤ Last six digits of transaction reference number (TRN) and applicants mobile number.

➤ Recent Passport Size photograph

➤ Passport or Aadhaar Card or National Identity Card

➤ Transcript of 10+2 level or equivalent

➤ Respective Council registration certificate of respective country

⮚ Once all formalities are completed and fees are paid, candidates are officially enrolled in the MBBS program at B&C Medical College.
